GPS lap timer for iPhone
Every lap,
measured quietly.
Tracelap turns your iPhone into a precise, distraction-free lap timer. Automatic laps, live delta to your best, sectors and real reference times — on a clean white screen you can read at a glance.
Automatic lap detection
Cross the line. Tracelap does the rest.
Laps start and stop the moment you cross the start/finish line, interpolated between GPS samples so the time lands where you actually crossed — not where the last fix happened to be.
Current lap 1

Every corner analysed: braking point, entry, apex and exit speed, time lost — and exactly what to change. Spoken after each lap if you like.
-
Leaderboards
Opt in to share your best lap per circuit. Tap any faster driver to see where they brake later and carry more speed.
Precision
Good on iPhone. Better with a receiver.
The iPhone's GPS is a fine place to start. When tenths matter, pair a dedicated receiver: more samples per second means a tighter line, cleaner sectors and steadier deltas.
- Bluetooth LEReceivers that stream NMEA at 10–25 Hz.
- RaceBoxMini, Mini S and Micro.
- MFiBad Elf, Garmin GLO, Dual XGPS — feeding iOS location directly.
Samples in one second
At 180 km/h you cover 50 m every second. Tracelap interpolates between samples to place the line crossing — more samples, less guesswork.
Circuits & reference times
Know where you stand.
Over 100 circuits are built in — many in France and across Europe — each with its outline and reference lap times per vehicle model. Pick your car, then see how your best lap compares to real-world references.
| Vehicle | Lap |

FAQ
Questions, answered.
Do I need an external GPS receiver?
No. Tracelap works with the iPhone's built-in GPS. An external receiver adds more samples per second and better accuracy, which tightens lap and sector times.
Which receivers are supported?
Bluetooth LE receivers that stream NMEA at 10–25 Hz, RaceBox Mini, Mini S and Micro, and MFi receivers such as Bad Elf, Garmin GLO and Dual XGPS, which feed iOS location directly.
What if my track isn't in the database?
Create it in seconds: drop the start/finish line on a satellite map, or set it from the car as you drive past.
Where is my data stored?
On your iPhone. There's no account and no sign-up. Export any session as GPX or CSV whenever you like.
What does the free version include?
Everything, up to 30 recorded laps. Tracelap Unlimited is a one-time $19 purchase that removes the limit for good. No subscription.
Does it work with sim racing games?
Yes. Tracelap reads the built-in UDP telemetry of EA F1 23, 24 and 25, Forza Motorsport, Forza Horizon 4 and 5, and Gran Turismo 7 on the same Wi-Fi network. Sim laps are kept separate from real ones — and F1 circuits line up with their real-world counterparts so you can compare.
Can I record video?
Yes. Tap the camera during a session; afterwards, play it back with synced data or save it to Photos with the overlay burned in.
Which iPhones are supported?
Any iPhone running iOS 17 or later.
