Summary

Your sessions stay on your iPhone. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking.

Data stored on your device

Sessions, laps, GPS traces, circuits, vehicles, conditions, notes and onboard videos are stored locally in the app. You can export or delete them at any time; deleting the app deletes them.

Data that leaves your device

• Weather: your approximate position is sent to Open-Meteo to fetch current conditions before a session. It is not linked to you.
• Leaderboards (opt-in): a randomly generated nickname, a random device identifier, your vehicle's model (or just its type, for vehicles you entered yourself), lap time, date and lap trace are stored in Apple's iCloud public database for that feature only.
• Lap counter: the number of free laps used is stored in your private iCloud key-value store.
• Duels: when you join a duel, your nickname, vehicle and best lap of the day go directly to the nearby phones in that duel (Bluetooth / Wi-Fi, no server).
• Purchases: handled entirely by Apple.
• Exports and sharing: only when you choose to share a file, image or video.

Permissions

Location (timing), Bluetooth (external GPS receivers), camera and microphone (onboard video), local network (sim-racing telemetry) and Photos (saving videos) are used only for those features.

Your rights

Because we don't hold your personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to access or delete; leaderboard entries can be removed on request at hello@tracelap.app.
